They were told they were too old, too difficult, too washed up. Hollywood gave them hatchets, haunted mansions, and close-ups of their terror. They gave us cinema gold.

Grande dames gone gloriously dangerous
What is Hagsploitation?
Also known as Grande Dame Guignol, Hagsploitation is the wild, wicked subgenre of the 1960s and ’70s in which Golden Age goddesses returned to the screen as monsters, murderesses, and madwomen.
These were roles built from terror, camp, cruelty, and spectacle—and seized by formidable performers who made every close-up unforgettable.
The pictures that made the genre

A visually drenched lecture from MeduSirena’s vault
Not exploitation. Reclamation.
Created from her fan-hag archive as a performer—and through the lens of the inspirations behind MEDUSAVISIÓN and several of her infamous Thanksgiving Experiment Galleries—MeduSirena reframes these films as something far richer than a cinematic sideshow.
With wit, affection, and a Gorgon’s eye for detail, she reveals how these screen icons turned the industry’s fear of aging women into ferocious, unforgettable art.
